Where the West Begins

The calves are getting big pretty fast. Taken from the I-35W Service Road, about two miles from my office at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, just north of Cabela's. Those horns look a lot more serious to me than the much longer ones on the city's symbol (the vegetarian symbol, not the sleepy carnivore)...

I'm amazed at how much grazing land still exists within the city limits. The north side of the Trinity Trail, west of Bryant Irvin, is still undeveloped scrub used for grazing.

Trivia question: What state in the United States produces the most beef, and why?

If I may take a crack at this question, I am gonna guess, Colorado. The reason is possibly because of large amounts of corn production in CO.

PS. This is a vegetarian's answer based on very little that he knows :)

You may be on to something there, Chandra, but by that reasoning wouldn't Iowa be a better guess?

Colorado is not the top beef producer in the USA. Incidentally, it has occurred to me that Washington DC is the biggest producer of BS, but way down on the list of beef producers. Huh.

Beef cattle - Texas, followed by Nebraska, Colorado, and Iowa. This IS the internet we're on!

Washington DC is the biggest producer of "where's the beef?"
