Can I Make this Ride?

Google Route to Fort Worth Alliance Airport
Not very shareable lane on Katy Road near Keller
Not one to give up easily, I did a Google Maps route to see what a 20 mile bike commute to Fort Worth Alliance Airport might look like. “Street View” and "map my run" make preliminary route scouting easy. I saw lots of little old narrow roads, lots of new houses, and not a lot of route choices. However, I’d ridden some of the roads and felt I might be able to ride to work at least occasionally. After all, it was only a couple of miles further than a commute ride I’d made during summers to Vought Aircraft in Dallas. How bad could it be? What’s more, on the positive side, the new building actually had showers and lockers!

Next, Yes, I can!

That is a long commute. I'm guessing that it's about 1.5 hours each way?

I had no idea your commute was that long. Keep this up, and I might start to respect you.

I can see Rat Trap's already speculating on the final outcome. He's not a bad guesser, but I've got to keep a token aura of mystery. Interestingly, though I don't talk about it in the narrative, DRIVING distance is 26 miles, in contrast to the 20 miles by bike. It's a long commute by either mode.

Rantwick, don't get silly. This blog isn't about respect. It isn't about beer or cooking, either. It COULD be about test riding fixed up Treks, however...

I can see how you clock all those miles now. I am not sure if I would be able to do that everyday.

Rollz's observation explains the post title...
