Canadian Invasion!

The Queen's Canadian Flag. More Properly Know as "The Royal Standard of Canada"
It seems like only YESTERDAY that we were enjoying our beautiful North Texas Indian Summer, with a daily high of 79F. Wait, it WAS yesterday. Below is tonight's forecast. While Big Oak, Apertome, and others from the frigid north may chuckle. This is really due to a Canadian Invasion. You see, the wind has shifted to the North and it comes to us straight from the snow-covered Canadian wastes.

However, you will not see me complaining about the cold, at least not unless it gets into single digits. You see, to quote a famous half-American who MIGHT have been talking about people in Texas: "...they are a tough and hardy lot. We have not journeyed all this way across the centuries, across the oceans, across the mountains, across the prairies, because we are made of sugar candy." Many note: "If you don't like the weather in Texas, wait a day or two and it will change." And so it seems likely this week.

Ha, that weather forecast is made for puppies!

Now, up here in Canada, we say the cold weather is coming from ALASKA, which last time I heard, belongs to the US.

As for the outfit.. hmm... it looks like it will keep you warm and I totally get the cargo pants thing. Are those purple boots I'm seeing?

Actually, those are purple sweat pants beneath the cargo shorts. I have noticed that really cold days in Texas seem much colder than really cold Seattle days. Perhaps it is because they are less common. I suspect the weather forecasters don't know exactly whether that cold weather is coming from Alaska or the Yukon anyway. If they just claimed it came from Siberia, it'd work for all us North American types.

You know, I really don't want to call you names... but you make it so hard. I rode in to work today at -10C. Your knowledge of British Canadiana is kind of upsetting too, since it far outstrips mine. I love you, man. Don't ever change.

Except the purple sweats. Change those.

Snow. Lots.

Haha. Very amusing post. You know what though? The first time it hit 25 degrees this year here, I thought "Damn, this is cold." It's mostly a matter of getting used to the cold, and figuring out what layers work best. Since it's just suddenly cold, you haven't had a chance to adapt. It's probably going to feel cold.

Cold is what happens when the heat goes away. Apertome is correct except that warm clothes speed up the adaptation process a lot.

Actually, I use the opposite strategy. When it starts getting chilly, I intentionally underdress. I quickly get used to it.
