...Columbia-Missouri has some cobblestone streets.

I didn't mind them when I initially moved there, in 1993. My bike was a mountain bike (which someone stole in 2003) and I didn't mind the cobblestone one bit.

I had no car to drive until 1997 aka car-free?
Boy were they a pain in the neck to drive on.

Steve -- the Frankenbike looks pretty nice. Much better than the one I used to ride back in Canada :)GreenComotionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11272116464292908327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2523357558654725888.post-72829379756421728472009-08-13T12:44:51.045-05:002009-08-13T12:44:51.045-05:00Bricks don't seem to bother the fat tire bikes...Bricks don't seem to bother the fat tire bikes, which is mostly what the students use. You know, stuff like ChipSeal photographed outside Wally World. Speaking of which, the one in Lubbock carries good quality bike locks. I forgot mine and didn't want to trust the "just a minute" lock on campus.Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2523357558654725888.post-33461738416745727672009-08-13T11:46:31.619-05:002009-08-13T11:46:31.619-05:00They're pretty, and they do encourage drivers ...They're pretty, and they do encourage drivers to slow down.

Just consider yourself lucky you don't live somewhere that still has cobblestone roads.Lylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11747334597464373005noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2523357558654725888.post-55601989492443271332009-08-13T11:15:48.036-05:002009-08-13T11:15:48.036-05:00Bricks can be hazardous when wet too.

Nobody gave me any static about ignoring them. Certainly I had no trouble keeping up with the motorists. It may just be an attempt to cut down on sidewalk riding which'd be a serious problem on a college campus.Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2523357558654725888.post-53556015428163623262009-08-12T22:16:56.692-05:002009-08-12T22:16:56.692-05:00Bike lanes ON campus?
