Cash for Clunkers

Why can't you get $4500 off when trading in an automotive clunker for a transportation bike? I imagine bike shops would support such a program and it could save a LOT of gas and reduce traffic congestion as well. Just thinking about politicians being in the business of making social policy...

I *just* said this to my husband last night. Everyone could buy a sweet Cargo bike. Mine has a sturdy three wheels for the bike scared of us...

That bike looks like it can carry a LOT!

I think it because the federal government of the United States went into the automobile business and not the bicycle business. They are just trying to drum up some business to get your investment of tax dollars back.

We need to tell the USG to buy Trek & Specialized!

Trek and Specialized are built in Taiwan aren't they?

I sure would love a $4500 bike. Wait, scratch that. I'll take a sweet $2000 mountain bike and a $2000 road bike. I have several "clunkers" to trade in too.

On Peter Schiff's weekly podcast, someone joked about a "Cash for TVs" and "Cash for Computers" programs too.
