Bicycle Wisdom Rediscovered #1

Aftermath of High Winds in Ocean Shores
When high winds abound, do NOT trust a kickstand to keep your bicycle upright. Better lay it down gently yourself…

Corollary – when high winds abound, and you foolishly trusted a kickstand, make sure the bike won’t hit a car when it DOES fall over.

Luckily, this time, when it fell over, it only bent a brake handle. Neighbor’s car was undamaged.

I confess: I have a kickstand on my old Schwinn LeTour--mainly because I'm too lazy to take it off!

Kickstands are great. Except for that rare occasion when one is obligated to watch a bike fall over, too far away to stop it. I'm pleased to hear no cars were injured in the making of this blog post.

High winds are tough on parked bicycles on kickstands.
Kickstands also do not work, if you park on the ground (not paved area) and it happens to rain.
Agreed!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)

Just be sure to not lay down the bike on where some people could trip over it. Or where some cars could run over it...
