Olympus Digital Camera Circa 1999 |
THE ONE YOU'VE GOT WITH YOU!!!
Pictured is my first digital camera. It is an Olympus D450Z (C900). It had all of 1.3 megapixels combined with a 3X optical zoom. I used it for about 5 years until, with the advance of digital camera technology and a flash that no longer seemed to work, I got a newer Fujifilm Finepix S7000. I still use that camera a lot, though new cameras have long since passed it by. Will I get a new compact or digital SLR? Time only will tell...

Are you sure you did not pick it up off the Star Wars set...
That's why I got a Panasonic DMC-ZS20 a few years ago, small enough to keep with me, enough features and a 20x zoom lens for taking decent photos.
The Olympus hockey puck was submersible and shock resistant and fit in a pocket. I haven't determined if its ailments are fatal. In the meantime, I tend to run the little video camera as a dash cam (bar cam) and shoot snaps with my tablet at work or my lame phone, because I can send them between my devices via Bluetooth and post illustrations quickly if I want them for on line work. Since I go boating about once a year these days, and never go places for fun anymore, a rugged portable camera seems like a low priority.
